Unite is an annual learning conference organised by Unity, where creativity takes centre stage. It is a place to connect with fellow creators and developers across all forms of entertainment. Also, a place to get a peek at what Unity will bring in the future.

With the rapid expansion of Unity as a game development platform, they’ve added significant features to their core engine. They’ve continued to do this over the course of several years now. The periodic expanse of services and features that Unity offers has made it the go to platform for creating XR solutions for various markets like AEC, Automotive, Manufacturing, and Entertainment. This is one of the reasons why we love working with Unity here at Xarpie Labs.

This year’s Unite was the largest in 10 years and it took place at Bella Center in Copenhagen, Denmark. Copenhagen is the place where Unity started 15 years ago. About 3,000 people attended the three-day conference. More than 150 learning sessions were offered along with, product demos, meetups, an Expert Bar, Unite at Night, and the Unity Keynote (available on YouTube).

Many of the sessions at this year’s Unite focused on the Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) industry. This ranged from Spatial Computing using XR, visualizing engineering project lifecycle and training for employees working in this industry.

The Expo hall gave the attendees a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience of the various demos available. These product demos ranged from standard real-time architecture visualization to mainstream multiplayer mobile game development.

Out of many interesting exhibits at the Expo, Lexus configurator was one of the few that stood out. This was not the most unique experience out there, but it was developed using High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP), hence, the resulting visual quality was stunning. HDRP is now officially out of preview and production ready.

We’re very excited to upgrade from the legacy pipeline to HDRP for our upcoming projects.

It was a great opportunity to connect and network with other developers and creators. Most of the attendees were from a technical/creative background, therefore, it was a treat to discuss the rise of interactive solutions in markets other than gaming. Also, to learn about the ambitions of fellow creators was motivating to say the least. Definitely looking forward to attending Unite 2020 next year.
